I haven't been everywhere, But I'll get there. -That's my favorite quote this 2018. I want to explore the world, to see natures unique beauty,  witness amazing sunsets/sunrise from different places, to experience another culture, to have a taste and enjoy the flavors of the world, and take home new learnings. I know I just started on this traveling journey. And I wish I'll go places that I really, really like, hope, and prayed for. Now, I specifically want to see and start with Asia. Being loaded with tasks at home like daily chores, blogging gigs, and mommy duties, even the "planning" thing for future trips is impossible to do and most of the time we set it aside and too bad sometimes we just forgot about it. Luckily, trade fairs are frequent happenings in our favorite malls.  Just take a look at this one titled Citarasa Malaysia.

Filipino Figure Skater Michael Martinez was warmly welcomed by his family, supporters, and fans on the Olympian's homecoming prepared by SM Skating. He was very accommodating when being asked for selfies and to have their picture taken with him. Also, what I can't help but noticed is he looks more pogi now, and kind of a buff. He looks really good at the age of 21. Prior to the competition, Michael was into bodybuilding and if you're following him on Instagram, you'll see his pa-pandesal / abs there. Kidding aside, with all those muscles that he worked hard for he had to get rid of it as fast and as much as he can to prepare for the Olympics.

Michael Martinez once again represented the Philippines in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea. Prior to his return to the winter Olympics, Martinez won the silver medal in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. With quite a short time to prepare, being the first alternate to Olympic qualifier Sweden after it withrew in January. Though he didn't advance in the men's single figure skating event, Regardless of the mishap, the winter Olympian is very much honoured to be given the chance to compete once more in the global ice tournament.

“Competing at that level of the winter Olympics, in the company of world-class figure skating talents, and performing in front of the world, is already a reward. I am honoured to have represented the country in that tournament and hope I have become an inspiration to the next generation of ice athletes,” said Martinez.
Michael Martinez receiving a certificate of recognition for his efforts in representing the country and making ice skating popular in the Philippines.

“We are grateful for the sacrifices made and dedication shown by Michael Martinez in the just concluded winter Olympics. He has become not only a source of pride but also an inspiration especially for the budding ice athletes who, I believe, will carry our country’s colors in future international competitions,” said Herman Emiliano Medina-Cue, SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. chief operating officer.

SM Lifestyle Entertainment Inc. has been supporting the development of Filipino ice athletes, including the Southeast Asian Games gold medal-winning Philippine Ice Hockey team, and various ice sports in the country by implementing the SM ice skating sports program and maintaining Olympic-size ice skating rinks in Metro Manila and Cebu City.

SM Skating pledged in developing the talents and skills of young, aspiring athletes, keeping the dream alive of qualifying and making a strong finish in future winter Olympics games and other tournaments.

SM Skating executives reiterated their commitment to provide training and offer world-class ice skating facilities to Filipino ice athletes after welcoming home figure skater Michael Christian Martinez at the Olympic-size rink inside the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The Olympic-size Skating Rink is located at the main mall’s third level, measuring 1,800-square meters boasts of complete facilities for hockey games such as a digital scoreboard, players’ boxes, scorekeeper and penalty boxes as well as two locker rooms with hot and cold shower.

Patrons can conveniently watch practices, training, exhibitions, shows, games, and tournaments at the 200-seater stands located around the rink. Those wanting to take a quick bite can head to the snack booth for hotdogs, burgers, nachos, popcorn, coffee cakes, pastries and ice-cold beverages.

FWD Life Philippines, one of the country’s fastest-growing insurers, launched its “Blaze a Trail in the Arctic” campaign in conjunction with the FWD North Pole Marathon 2018, the world’s coolest marathon which will be held on April 9 this year. FWD is the marathon’s title sponsor.

FWD will sponsor ten (10) runners from six (6) countries across Asia who will showcase their passion and determination to take on extreme challenges and embrace this experience of a lifetime, traversing the 42-kilometer path with an average temperature of -30 degrees centigrade. The North Pole Marathon is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the “Northernmost Marathon on Earth”.

FWD Life Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Grimes.

"As a brand that continues to change the way people feel about insurance, FWD saw the North Pole Marathon as a unique platform to empower people to overcome extreme challenges, to pursue their aspirations without worries, and to ignite their passion for life-enriching experiences," said FWD Life Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Grimes. "With Blaze a Trail in the Arctic as our Philippine campaign promoting the marathon, we aim to encourage Filipinos to live life to the fullest, because we will always have their back!”

FWD sponsors a cancer survivor ready to conquer the top of the world!

FWD Philippines will be represented by Louie Sangalang, a multi-sport athlete who engages in mixed-martial arts, boxing, and triathlons.  A proud cancer survivor, Louie was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix when he was 21.  But instead of giving up, Louie—who has been in remission since 2000—turned to sports and was able to bounce back successfully.

“I want to inspire my fellow Filipinos with my story. This is why I’m running. I want them to feel empowered, that despite the many challenges that life throws, you can come back better and stronger with the right attitude,” said Sangalang, who will be joining other runners from all over the world, including representatives from other countries where FWD operates: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Japan.

"Louie's resilience in overcoming life’s challenges is one trait that resonates with Filipinos and this made him the perfect choice to represent the Philippines in the marathon," shared Grimes. "His inspiring story and his passion for sports, which he uses to inspire Filipinos to live an active lifestyle, also best represent what FWD stands for: pursuing one’s passions and celebrating life without hesitation. As such, FWD will be providing Louie with insurance protection so that he can embrace the North Pole Marathon challenge worry-free.”

To help Sangalang, FWD Philippines formed a North Pole Marathon squad who will support his mental, physical, and emotional preparations. Included in the squad are triathlon icon Ani De LeonBrown, who will collaborate with his personal trainer and coach Ige Lopez for Louie’s physical preparedness; mountain climber Romi Garduce, who will share his insights on surviving extreme weather conditions; Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan and son Benjamin, who will provide emotional support and motivation; and sports enthusiast and funny man Sam YG, who will help keep the rigorous— sometimes stressful—training, lighthearted and funny.
