Finally, I had my first mag "Sangla" experience!
And it was surprisingly exciting and amazing.

A couple of months ago we applied for a small loan. This is meant for my children's tuition fees and school supplies + my supposedly birthday getaway too. I don't know what gotten into me but all of a sudden I realized it's May 28 already. And the loan we applied for? we have not yet received. The beach trip that I really wanted for my birthday? It didn't happen. And the enrollment? still not done. What's worse is that our electricity bill ballooned from P2500 to P4500 and wait there's more... Ricci was bitten by our furbaby Chubby! OMG What's happening to us? I have checked our cash on hand + emergency fund and it was just enough to cover the bills and the groceries. I decided to forget about the beach at baka mag beast-mode lang ako with the expenses. So, Pwede na ba himatayin mga momshies???

Pawning is simply money lending with security & collateral.
I've seen people doing it too, like "Sangla" is a way of life, a way to cope in times of need. Pag may biglaan bayarin sa school, may nagkasakit or na-emergency-hopsitalization, pang-gastos pang requirements sa pag-apply sa trabaho, pang-dagdag sa pang-debut or pang pagawa ng bahay.
Pero siempre, matigas ang ulo ko, nag-keme-keme muna ako sa ibang pawnshop. Pinacheck ko, ayun nagulat ako kinikis sa bato yung kwnitas ni mama, sumulat yung kwintas sa bato!!! Para akong aatakihin sa puso... nako yare, magmamarka ba yun? ayaw ko nang tingan. Lord, sana wag mapansin yun ni Mama.
After that, Mudra's gintong yaman was appraised at Php13,xxx. And I'm not happy, kasi 20k and kailangan ko. So, I pushed going to Cebuana Lhuillier. Actually, kumakabog dibdib ko, di ako sanay. So, I politely asked the staff on duty:
"Sir, first time ko po mag-sangla, paano po ba?"
-Cebuana Lhuiller Staff: Ganoon po ba? Madali lang ito ma'am, since first time mo, kailangan mong mag fill up ng registration form. titingnan ko po yung item and aalamin natin ang value and if ok sayo ang appraised value, i-process na sya for sangla.

So, here we go, this is how to sangla na... a black box lined with black velvety fabric pops out the window. OO, na-amazed ako sa pa-box where I'll be putting Mudra's gintong yaman for them to check and appraise. Doon sa una kong pinuntahan abot-abot lang sa tiled counter. Muntik pa kaming magholding hands ni koya.
I signed the registration form, presented a government-issued I.D., have my to sangla / to pawned item appraised.

And it was appraised at a whooping rate of P19,xxx. Shocks! What a big difference!!! It is pretty close to my target budget which is Php20,000. So this is it, this is really it! I will push to Sangla na!

Note: This is for those who agreed to the appraised value of their item to be pawned. If you are not happy with the appraised value, try your luck na pataasan pa, gamitan nyo ng charm. Mababaet naman sila. Also, during this process, you have to sign that clear plastic pouch and mini pink slip. That is where your pawned item is to be placed, tagged, sealed and stored for safe keeping. |

That's it! Also, ang saya for me, finally kasi Mag-Sangla Skill Acquired!!! Dali i-congratulate nyo ako dahil solve na ang pang tuition at pang swimming ng fambam!!! And the next time I'll be in need of fast cash, I'll be on my way to Cebuana Lhuillier, Alam na!

Yes i tried this na. Ung necklace ko noon bf gf pa kami naisanla ko nung need operation ni eldest due to fractured elbow. Naka dlawa kami pawnshop til nag ceb kami so go na kami taas ng appraisal. Natubos ko rin sya kasi mura lang per 3 mos ata ako hulog nun.
ReplyDeleteAng galing lang diba? sana nag invest din ako ng mga alahas mas ok at magagamit talaga lalo na pag biglaang mangailangan ng cashing.
DeleteTried it before. With cebuana too! :) though I don't really like to make pawning a habit, I am just glad to know that Cebuana is JUST around every corner, just in case I'll be needing their services once again! :)
DeleteSo here's my story..Si hubby noong bf/gf pa kami mas nagbibigay ng gift na magagamit ko daw, di nawawala o nauubos at may purpose. He used to "bribe" haha me FOOD talaga pasalubong niya pag nagkikita kami sa school. He's not into spending flowers, pero love letters or funny cards na may noted niya. So on our anniv he handed me a necklace 14k but i rarely wear it takot ma snatch lalo na ung daanan ko from school may area na maraming loko. Fast forward, we are a couple and blessed with a kid, my eldest son na super likot. On his 2yrs of age, an accident came. He fell down sa stairs siguro mga 4 steps and it went really bad. I hurriedly run towards him and saw nakalaylay na ang elbow nya. As starting palang kami, we had no enough money. We even opted to hilot and we regret so we went to a clinic daming xray ginawa then ni refer kami to RMC, sin-smento muna ang elbow temporarily until we get a sched of his operation and the cost? Almost 30k for his fractured bones. We dont have that amount but we'll do anything for him. Luckily, his boss, called informing we should make a visit to Phil Orthopedic the soonest as they already notify someone there. Btw, my husband that time works as a govt employee. We arrived there and mrami tao, so bawat galaw need money. I remember my necklace and brought it. Mahirap kumilos pag walang pera byahe palang from Taguig to Banawe Qc and need lagi magtaxi. No hesitations, we went to a nearby sanlaan, not to mention basta may ginto sa name nya nakikita din everywhere. Ang liit lng daw sabi ng asawa ko so hanap kami. We saw Cebuana and we believe na matutulungan kqmi kasi trusted na ito, i cant go on details kasi lutang ako that time. Hubby just went to the counter, handed my necklace they checked may timbang timbang pa sila nun and i remember php8k din and necklace ko malaking bagay na para makakilos kilos unlike doon sa other pawnshop plus di pa mabigat ang bayad di ka kabahan na baka di mo matubos malayo oa maturity date. Npa wow ako. BLESSING sya. Pirma na and we're off to go. Matagal kami nagstay and kami lang talaga ang dami procedures before operation kahit sabihin na public may gagastusin ka padin plus food pa namin everyday..Sa katapat na fastfood kami kumakain kasi salitan kami sa pagbantay kaya magastos talaga. So after that unos na successful ang operation need pa namin pabalik balik kasi may followup checkup pa sa healing etc. Buti nlng sinagot ng govt (where hubby works) ang mga bakal na ginamit that time so mga gamot lang sa amin, travel amd food expenses. Natubos ko siya haha and masasabi ko SALAMAT CEBUANA✋
