TV it is!
TV or Television still remains the top source of entertainment for Filipinos.

The advent of technology has changed the way we live, including the habits that we developed to entertain ourselves. However, even with screens getting smaller and internet connectivity being placed in the center of our entertainment, one medium remains steadfast in this ever-changing time: The Television.

According to TV audience measurement provider Kantar Media, 96.6 percent of Filipinos tune into their televisions daily in 2016. While digital media and improving internet access has made it easier and more accessible for audiences to stream shows online, the survey says that we spend longer durations--particularly 3.7 hours in average--watching our favorite programs.

True enough, TV watching is considered more than just a lifestyle for most of us; it is a form of tradition. Whether enjoyed on our own or with our family and friends, this particular type of bonding moment is something that is deeply ingrained in our culture. There are, of course, the staple telenovelas that we all love, but shifting times have also made room for foreign series accessed through video on demand programs like Netflix, iFlix, and HOOQ, and K-Dramas which have revolutionized the way millennials watch TV, despite their generation being more hooked with social media.

Creating moments, Strengthening bonds

For some, watching television might be a simple habit. But for others, it is a chance to break free and relax from their hectic lifestyles or strengthen bonds with people they share the experience with. It can also be a form of a healthy escape, too, where one can learn about new things and explore other cultures in the comfort of their homes.
