As a young mom, I am super praning about my children's health. I make it a point to have them regularly checked by their pediatrician, take vitamins and prescribe medicine if they were sick, prohibit them with unhealthy snacking and playing outside our compound for a long period of time. And konting atching/sneezing ang lumalaki na mata ko sa pag aalala baka mauwi sa ubo trangkaso or whatever :P

Ever heard the saying " Ayaw padapuan sa lamok" OMG!!! pag mommy ka na, you'll know it's real! And hate na hate natin yan most particularly if it's a dengue-virus-carrying mosquito.

I thanked God that no one in my children and my extended family has been victimized by this disease. And I am still praying to the good Lord, na wag talagang may maapektohan sa amin. But aside from prayers, we can do something about it. That's what I learned during the Allied Against Dengue Movement that was launched recently.

And her thoughts about Dengue Fever.

With the disease growing rapidly across the country, empowerment is the most effective tool to combat dengue.
Allied Against Dengue Philippines, formally launched last July 12, 2016, galvanizes all forces and efforts to unite and  take actions and defeat dengue. Designed as an open movement, the coalition consists of like-minded leaders who aim to empower healthcare providers, private and public organizations and communities; and reduce the impact on dengue on the nation. Every alliance partner will leverage their core competences and dedicate energy, funds and resources in the movement to help bring down the incidence rate of and deaths caused by dengue fever. The Allied Against Dengue movement is also active in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Dengue is rife in Philippines and unless we join forces, the disease will become the fastest spreading health threat in the Philippines. GSK was motivated to initiate Allied Against Dengue as we were concerned of the escalating hazard and effect of dengue on the nation including our employees and their families who have experienced the dreaded disease. Uniting forces and actions enable greater empowerment across stakeholders, education delivery to communities nationwide and allow us to help people do more, feel better and live longer. Allied Against Dengue is the catalyst tothis with the ultimate goal to reduce the impact of dengue burden of Filipinos.
-GSK Consumer Healthcare General Manager Heather Pelier

The movement aims to lead change and create bigger impact to society through collaborative partnerships with DOH, private institutions, healthcare providers, media influencers, and community leaders. GSK together with the other coalition partners activates the ambitious roadmap that the movement has set to achieve its goal of reducing the burden of dengue on society through empowerment and education.

More than 1200 pediatricians and pharmacists will be involved in the public education and awareness of dengue fever management across the country. This is aligned to and complements the World Health Organization global strategy for prevention and control DOH's initiatives.
With the deployment of a robust nationwide education campaign through multiple channels, Allied Against Dengue seeks to curb the incidence growth rate and ultimately, make a real difference to the lives of Filipinos. The coalition strategy will include the following:

>>> Distribution of 50,000 DOH primers to at least 5 public schools in dengue hotspots in Metro Manila.

>>> Distribution of 15,000 leaflets to 1,000 pediatricians and general practitioners.

>>> Education of proper dengue fever prevention and management to 20 health centers from Baranggay outreach programs.

>>> Implementation of Continuous Pharmacy Education (CPE) Program identified chapters, targeting 200 pharmacists.

>>> Education and recruitment of at least 1000 Allies Against Dengue through employee engagement, online and on-ground activations.

In achieving these milestones, Allied Against Dengue is set to roll out a series of initiatives including train-the-trainer programs, organized information centers through the coalition partners' networks, community education activations, and employee volunteers who will be part of the community outreach at dengue hot spots.
