National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto Cabrera, popularly known as BenCab marks his 50th year as an artist.

Over the years, BenCab has built a monument to Philippine contemporary art and has inspired thousands of artists through his paintings and fine art prints.

Samsung Electronics Philippines supports the Yuchengco Museum’s tribute exhibition to BenCab in celebration of his 50th anniversary. The interactive exhibit, dubbed BenCab in Two Movements, will be on view at the museum from 1 October 2015 to 16 January 2016.

The exhibition highlights BenCab’s handpicked works he created to capture the dance movements of London-based Chinese dancer San Lee, and Polish dancer and choreographer Paulina Wycichowska.

“We believe that art is something to be experienced by everyone, and that Smart TV is the perfect vehicle to make art accessible to all. It is Samsung Philippines’ honor to present the works of National Artist BenCab through the wonders of technology, showcasing two forms of artistry through brush strokes and dance movements,” -Jupiter Guibone, Director of Samsung AV Group.

Through Samsung’s SUHD and UHD TV technologies, BenCab in Two Movements hopes to provide museum visitors immersive experiences at the same time curatorial information on shared art experiences between a painter and a dancer.

The exhibit uses customized Smart TV and mobile apps to enhance interactive experiences that are both artful and enjoyable. With digitalized works from BenCab’s sketchbooks, a museum visit is now fun, informative and exciting.

“BenCab’s work captures the depths of Filipino artistry. We are proud to showcase this using Samsung’s innovative technologies, and share his artistic vision which has delighted and enlightened Filipinos through the years. This confirms Samsung’s commitment to the promotion of artistic expression and cultural development. By leveraging its strengths in technology, Samsung provides an ecosystem for digital art creation and presentation,” Guibone

Featuring the Samsung TV technology

Samsung Digital Guestbook
Samsung’s SUHD and UHD TVs have a re-mastering engine that delivers an unrivaled viewing experience by analyzing the brightness of images to minimize additional power consumption while expressing ultimate contrast levels. This produces images with much deeper blacks and an elevated brightness 2.5 times brighter than conventional TVs and twice the color adjustment points for the most accurate color display.

Utilizing Samsung's proprietary, eco-friendly nano-crystal technology, the SUHD and UHD TV’s nano-crystal semiconductor transmits different colors of light depending on their size to produce the highest color purity and light efficiency available today. This technology produces a wide range of more accurate colors, providing viewers with 64 times more color expression than conventional TVs. Moreover, the Samsung SUHD also has a stylish curved design that provides viewers with a spectacular viewing experience.

The SUHD and UHD TVs also feature Smart TV functions powered by Tizen, giving viewers easy access to their favorite content. These functions will take center stage at the digital exhibit, BenCab in Two Movements set to delight museum audiences beginning October 1 at the Yuchengco Museum.
